This specifically designed area Police Station replaces a pair of semi-detached Police houses. It provides a public reception, briefing room, welfare facilities, offices and a conference room within a single building.
An under croft provides space for bins and outdoor use Police equipment as well as access to the rear secure parking area.
The site is located on the edge of a residential area and therefore the design had to be domestic in scale whilst still readily identifiable as a Police Station building. The external appearance therefore follows the external finishes of the adjoining homes using facing brickwork and render with a slate roof and individual window units. But incorporates gable features and glazed screens by way of commercial contrast.
Following a change in Policing priorities the station is no longer open to the public but is still a base for community Police operations.
